As reported by MSNBC, CNN, and all the other news websites out there, Senator Barack Obama has filed the paperwork to create a presidential exploratory committee. That means he can start raising money in the pursuit of announcing a bid for the presidency. So for those of you keeping score at home, we have these confirmed candidates for the Democratic nomination:

1. Tom Vilsack, former Govenor of Iowa
2. John Edwards, former US Senator from North Carolina
3. Joe Biden, US Senator from Delaware
4. Christopher Dodd, US Senator from Connecticut
5. Dennis J. Kucinich, US Congressman from Ohio
6. Barack Obama, US Senator from Illinois

And those expected to run but have yet to file the paperwork or announce:

1. Hilary Clinton, US Senator from New York
2. John Kerry, US Senator from Massachusetts
3. Bill Richardson, Governor of New Mexico
4. Al Sharpton
5. Gen. Wesley Clark, former NATO Supreme Allied Commander

So, out of these 11 possible candidates, we want to know what you think.

Barack Obama is the best hope America and Democrats have for changing the politics and policies of the past 25 years. I have been living under a cloud of Reaganism my entire life. Even Bill Clinton had to work under the framework of Reaganism, albeit a more progressive version of it.

Obama is unique, charismatic, and most importantly progressive. But he's not progressive in the college campus sense of the word, where he goes marching around with signs reading, "Bush is a Nazi". No, he's progressive in the sense that he wants positive changes for our society so that we may meet the goals of the future. Obama realizes that we don't have to be against Republicans to do this, we simply have to convince some of them that it will be in their best interests to see change.

Maybe he's hype, or maybe he's the real thing, all I know is that he is the first politician in my lifetime that truly excites me, and I'm sticking with that feeling.
